In this post, we’ll walk you through the essential rules, scoring system, and tips to help you enjoy this classic game to the fullest. So, grab your pucks, flip a coin, and let’s get started!
1. Who’s First?
- Assign a set of pucks to each team (4 in total per round).
- Flip a coin to determine who goes first and which side of the table each team starts at.
2. Shuffle Shots!
- Assign a set of pucks to each team (4 in total per round).
- Flip a coin to determine who goes first and which side of the table each team starts at.
3. Foul Line
- Each player takes turns to push the puck down the board, aiming for the furthest distance without falling off the end of the board or into the gutters.
4. Scoring
- Once both sides have run out of pucks, it’s time to count your scores!
- Add up your puck scores. Whoever has the highest score wins the round and gets a point.
- Swap ends and repeat. The first to 9 points wins the game!
- If the puck doesn’t make it into zone 1, it’s worth 0 points. If the puck falls off the edge or gets knocked off the board, it’s also worth 0 points.
Additional Rules:
- Pucks must land in either zone 1, 2, or 3 to earn points.
- A hanger (worth 4 points) is when the puck is half on the board, hanging off the end at zone 3.
- If you knock the opposing player’s puck off the board while aiming for zone 3, you can prevent them from scoring.
What Not to Do:
- Do not wipe off any shuffleboard wax, also known as shuffleboard sand or sawdust, which is sprinkled all over the top of the board.
- Do not put drinks on the table. Please use the designated drinks table nearby.
- Avoid moving or shaking the table as it is very heavy and could cause injury.
Other Tips:
- Have clean, dry hands when handling the pucks to avoid slipping.
- If you lose a round, don’t worry. Book another half-hour to seek your revenge!
Enjoy your game and aim for that perfect score!
